The Golf News" and "Central New York Directory For Tourists" are the products of experiences beginning in 1970. At that time, the Thendara Golf Course in Old Forge, New York, was hosting golf exhibitions featuring Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Gary Player,Lee Trevino, Tony Jacklin, Billy Casper, Tony Lema, and other outstanding PGA and LPGA touring pros. From attendance at those events, Mitch Pezdek, Jr. learned about the great history of golf and the beauty of that sport in Central New York and the Adirondacks. From that interest and "love of the game", he became Editor-in-Chief for "Golf News" that was published in Utica, New York, from 1989 to 1993. During that time, he made "Golf News" not only a regional golf magazine, but one that earned respect in the industry. "Golf News" published the swings of Wayne Levi and Patty Sheehan in sequential form, and is still the only magazine to ever publish photos of the swing of the 1990 PGA Tour Player of the Year (Wayne was elected by his peers over Greg Norman and all other Tour Players!). Mr. Pezdek also was able to interview and make the acquaintance of several Tour Players and world famous instructors, including Dottie Pepper, Lynn Marriott (who is a partner of Pia Nilsson in the Golf 54 golf school that has been ranked #1 in the US by Golf Magazine, whose book "Every Shot Must Have A Purpose" was the #1 selling golf book on Amazon.com in December of 2005, and whose #1 alumnus is golf Hall of Famer, Annika Sorenstam), Laura Diaz, and the late Payne Stewart, among others. Because of the respect that Mr. Pezdek and his son, John, continue to have for Payne Stewart, a logo was selected for the publications that looks like the Hall of Famer who died tragically in 1999 after winning the US Open at Pinehurst #2 in June of that year. At the present time, "The Golf News" magazine is published 6 times a year, beginning in April, and "Central New York Directory For Tourists" is published annually, also in April. With the establishment of this website, one of the goals of the business, PEZ Golf Enterprises, has been to make available "golf packages" for 2,3, or 7 day stays in Central New York, which is ranked by Golf Magazine as the 7th best area in the US for the number of golf courses, variety, and affordability. Mr. Pezdek refers to this area as a "Golf Paradise" for this reason. John Pezdek is currently the Assistant Golf Coach for the St. Lawrence University men and women's golf teams, where he assists Mary Lawrence, former LPGA Tour player, who is from Canton, New York. John graduated from St. Lawrence in 2003 after helping lead the men's golf team to the NCAA Division 3 National Tournament in Ohio. He was MVP of the team for 3 consecutive years, and was named an All-American in his junior year. He is a reporter, advertising representative, and columnist for "The Golf News.
